From 1951 until 2002 Uptown Cleaners occupied the building at 350 South Division. This two story brick flat-roof building has been used as a processing location for a local dry cleaning chain in Grand Rapids. Recently the Catholic Diocese of Grand Rapids announced plans to demolish the building and replace it with a public plaza including several pieces of public artwork.

Architectural significance

For years it was considered to be an outstanding example of Moderne Building that acted as an anchor for the south end of Division Avenue much like its stylistic counterpart the 1949 Moderne structure built for Davenport Institute which anchors the Northern end.
