There is a deep tradition of soul music being created and performed in Grand Rapids since the 1950s, including being the adolescent and teen home of Al Green, one of soul music's most prominent musicians.
The Grand Rapids Soul Club hosts a regular dance night at several venues that features the music of many local artists as well as classic national acts.
