According to the Grand Rapids Urban Forest Project, Grand Rapids currently has a tree canopy covering  34.6% of the city.¹ This canopy is made up of a wide variety of trees. Of the approximately 1.6 million trees in the city, only 5% can be found on public property and parks.²
