The Westdale Company was established in 1958 by Len Westdale Sr, and was dissolved upon sale to Coldwell Banker AJS Schmidt in 2006.

Len Westdale Jr took over the company in 1989 when his father retired. He and his wife Karen divorced in 1998, and Karen took over as owner. After a succession of a few presidents, several lawsuits and alleged financial difficulties, Len Jr was reinstated as president until the final years of the company.

Westdale was a locally owned company that ruled the West Michigan real estate business from the 60s to the 90s. Once the company ran into financial difficulties around the turn of the century, including an $868,000 judgment against the company from a 2002 lawsuit initiated by GMAC, it never seemed to recover.

At the time of sale, the company boasted $1.8 billion in annual sales.
