Yesterdog is an Eastown hot dog stand and cultural institution.

Menu

Yesterdog's menu consists mostly of hot dogs and variations on a hot dog theme, including the eponymous Yesterdog, a chili-dog with mustard, ketchup, onions and pickle.

Other notable items:

  • Cheddardog, a chili and cheese hot dog
  • Ultradog, a hot dog with chili, cheese, ketchup, mustard, onions and pickels
  • Krautdog, a hot dog with sauerkraut, mustard and pickle.

In the fall and winter Yesterdog offers chicken noodle soup.

The pickles used by Yesterdog are noteworthy as they are finely chopped, making them superior to the long, thin slices of pickle used elsewhere, which are often ultimately pulled off in the first or second bite.

Off-menu items

There are several off-menu items available at Yesterdog. A favorite is The Killer, which features all the toppings available.

In popular culture

A Yesterdog-like place was featured in the motion picture American Pie, which took place in a fictional version of East Grand Rapids—a suburb mere blocks away. In the film, Yesterdog is referred to as Dog Years.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is known to frequent Yesterdog. Because of his intense training and diet regiment he only eats turkey dogs, which he supplies, instead of the normal half-beef half-pork hot dogs. Mayweather is known as a very generous tipper.
