Mental Health Greensboro is a non-profit organization that provides mental health support for locals in Greensboro. MHG has various peer-led recovery support through support groups, recovery skill classes, and by creating a supportive community. A majority of MHG's services are free to the public and don't require advance registration or long-term commitment. 

MHG's mission according to their website: "Mental Health Greensboro advances mental wellness in our community through leadership, education, direct services and collaborative partnerships."

History:

  • Established in 1940 as "Mental Health Hygiene Society"
  • Became a service of the Guilford County Health Department in 1952
  • In 1960's, MHG helped establish a psychiatric unit at Moses Cone Hospital
  • Name was changed to "Mental Health Association in Greensboro" in 1977
  • In 2018, name was again changed to "Mental Health Greensboro"
