Hercules Bayfront is a proposed New Urbanism residential and commercial development along the Hercules waterfront. The developer is AndersonPacific.
The project has been long delayed, to say the least.
Originally part of a master planned community by Bixby, the retail and commercial aspects of the Hercules Waterfront District have not been constructed besides the live-works along Railroad Avenue. Three residential neighborhoods have been built -- The Promenade, Baywood and Bayside.
Development has been stalled for multiple reasons. The economic downturn in the housing industry (including Bixby dissolving as a company), along with civic malfeasance and corruption, precipitated a decade-long delay for the project.
The project area also comprises the Hercules Intermodal Transit Center (ITC) -- with rail (Amtrak Capitol Corridor) and bus (WestCAT) connections.
