The Confederate Monument located at the corner of Court St. and High St. as dedicated in 1893. While there are other confederate monuments, there are only three that show a sailor. Ours shows a sailor, infantryman, artillery and cavalry. The monument is 56' 6" tall and the figures are made of cast zinc while the majority of the monument is made from granite.

On June 10, 2020 a group of vandals heavily damage the monument. They beheaded all of the figures and torn one off of its stand. They also dropped paint on it and sprayed painted slogans on the stand.
