Other information: It is believed that this house was originally built as a barn in the late 1800's for the house next door. During any renovation since 2000 it is obvious that much of the wood from this house was recycled from another structure, quite possibly taken from a barn that was once just up the hill from here. Again, all hearsay, in the early 1920's the barn was converted into a house. Old newspapers and magazines have been found in the walls dating anywhere between 1921 and 1922.

This house was once part of the Mt. Baker Club. It is rumored that there was a Speak-Easy in this house. When the floors were refinished in 2000 the contractor noted that there was some serious wear and tear in the floor to what appeared to be a small drinking bar pattern in the floor. All throughout the property bottles of all sizes are found to what appear to be alcoholic beverage containers.

From 1945 to 1997 the house was occupied and owned by Ilse and Dr. Carl Gronemeijer, and Ilse's mother, Ella Kummerling, all of which is a story in and of itself. When they purchased the house they made significant renovations to the house in the 1940's.
