This property was known as lot#12, township 11, Old Military Tract, Essex County and was obtained from the state of New York by Jacob S. Moody, who was the first settler in Saranac Lake. He had two sons to whom he gave two of the sections of land, and he gave the third section to his grandson.  The Helen Hill properties, of which Franklin Avenue is a part, were surveyed in 1892 by G.T. Chellis  at the request of Orlando and Arvilla Blood and Frederick Isham who bought the Helen Hill area from the Moodys.

This property was  later known as lot 21, in block 6 then later 21 Franklin Avenue and now 103 Franklin Avenue. This lot was sold to Cushman Land & Investment Company around 1903/4, and then to William J. Clark on 7 June 1905. On 5 September 1905, he sold it to Henry E. Fairchild who had this home built on the site. His son Fredrick and his wife lived here until her death in 1908.

This home was rented on and off to TB outpatients until it was sold to Harry Berwind on 16 October 1940; Berwind lived here until 10 December 1956 when he sold it to William McLaughlin and his wife. They lived  here and raised their family until his death on 12 January 1986. His wife remained in this home until 19 October 2005. Their son sold the property to Rabideau Corporation of Saranac Lake on 21 March 2006 who sold it to the Constant's. After the house sat vacant for several years Community Bank took control of it on 8 December 2015 when Norma Laturno bought the house and started to restore it.
