On it on the 1895 Sanborn map, 36 Broadway had no building; a building first appears on the 1899 map, labeled "Candy." The 1903 map shows a somewhat larger store labeled "Milly," presumably for millinery (hats). The 1908 map shows further enlargement, including a porch over the river; the label reads "Drugs, photo 2d" probably meaning the photo shop was on the second floor. The 1916 and 1924 maps show a building that appears unaltered, labeled "Drugs, Photo" and a bit more that is illegible.
It was the residence in 1906 of photographer Arthur N. Allen. It was the home of William Southard, proprietor of the Lake Flower Garage in the 1930s. Also home of Philip Lalande and Lucien Miron in the 1960s.
