Andrew Paul Janos was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of Francis and Mary (Gmuca) Janos.

SARANAC LAKE - Andrew Paul Janos, 75, of 20 Church St.. died Saturday morning, Dec. 29, at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake.

He was born Aug. 31, 1909, in Johnstown, Pa., the son of Francis and Mary (Gmuca) Janos.

Mr. Janos had lived in Saranac Lake since 1947 and had been employed at Ray Brook State Hospital for 28 years, retiring in 1975.

He was a World War II veteran, serving with the United States Army in Europe. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus and Moose Lodge, all of Saranac Lake.

Survivors include his wife, the former Jeannette Picard, whom he married in 1944; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Suzanne) Clark of Saranac Lake  and  Mrs.  Ted (Lorraine) LaFreniere of Glens Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Andrew (Elizabeth) Boradach and Mrs. Francis (Josephine.) Kristoff, both of Johnstown, Pa.; two granddaughters, Stephanie Clark and Mary Beth LaFranier; a grandson, Michael LaFranier; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Fortune Funeral Home today and Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m, and include a Bible vigil Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus in attendance.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery in May.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Saranac Lake Adult Center in care of the funeral home.
