Friday Eve. (most likely Aug. 29, 1930)

Dear Celie:

Received your three letters, all very welcome.

Mail the oil to me as soon as you can. You can put it in a small cardboard box, such as they use for medicines. You can get one from any druggist. Pack it with news paper, paste my name & address on it take it to the P.O. get it weighed stamp it & send. O.K. ?

Don’t forget to send me the Ring magazine for Sept. It is out now.

How is little James making out with his baby sister? Tell him da da would like to see him. I guess Jackie is pretty big by now.

I don’t want any candy, I have a lot left that Ella & Cecilia got for me. Thanks just the same.

I do not expect any company up Labor day. That is next Monday, is it not?

From the tone of your letter I guess you won’t be up either. It is an expensive proposition, and takes all day to get here. If you come alright, but if you can’t get off; you can come up some other time.

I have gained a few pounds, and am feeling a little better.

I have made friends with a young fellow on my floor, and it helps pass the time away. He is from Brooklyn too. So we have something in common.

Have you seen Mary Fitz yet? How is Jack Fitz’s arm?

You don’t have to put McCabe’s cottage on the envelope. I guess I’ll get alright.

What is Loretta doing is she working?

I guess I’ll have to close now, hoping this finds you all O.K.

With the best of luck ( ) Your four leaf clover -

I’ll soon be O.K. Yes?

As ever, Jack

P.S. How is our Society friends? I expect some day that you’ll write me & tell me that they are down & out. It invariably happens to fair weather friends.
