Miss Rebecca Augusta Polhemus, known as Augusta, owned a camp on Spitfire Lake and was a member of the St. Regis Yacht Club.

For 37 years George W. Mussen worked as a guide for Miss Augusta Polhemus of NYC at her camp called Edenwold on Spitfire Lake. Miss Polhemus came from one of the oldest families of NYC descended from a German pastor to the Dutch 17th century settlers of Brooklyn. She was a niece of Henry D. Polhemus, a benefactor of Dr. Trudeau. Miss Polhemus was one of the few female members of the St. Regis Yacht Club.
