Benjamin F. Hobart bought his first farm in the Brighton area in the 1870s. He had come to Keese's Mills to work in the lumber mill, and when the mill closed, he stayed to farm, also working as a caretaker for the Penfold family on Upper St. Regis Lake. His son, Henry, took over the farm.
His residence and farm are likely the source of the name "Hobart Road."
