Bernard T. Vancour was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of Joseph and Rose (Harmer) VanCour.  He worked as a caretaker at Knollwood for 33 years.

LAKE CLEAR — Bernard T. VanCour, 76, of Lake Clear, died Thursday, June 4, 1992 in Fredericksburg, Va.

Born May 15, 1916 in Saranac Lake, he was the son of Joseph and Rose (Harmer) VanCour.

He married Margaret Gladd Kentile.

He had been a caretaker at Knollwood for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Carter of Ft. Ann; a son, Lawrence VanCour of Saranac Lake; two stepsons, Bernard Kentile of Vineyard Haven, Mass. and John Kentile of New Philadelphia, Ohio; four brothers, Ernest of Rochester, Edmund and Ronald of Saranac Lake and Stanley of Lake Placid; a sister, Mrs. Grace Douglas of Fletcher, N.C.; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Thomas and Ralph, predeceased him.

Calling hours will be held tonight from 7 to 9 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St John's Church in Lake Clear, the Rev. Bruce Favreau, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Saranac Lake.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
