Bernice Clifford (nee Hough) lived at 241 or 239 Broadway with her husband Cornelius. She sang at the bowling alley that is now Romano's Saranac Lanes (likely the Mar-Mac Bowling Center at the time).She was active in the community, including as president/secretary/pianist/conductress of the VFW auxiliary, Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose, a director of the Saranac Lake Fish & Game Club,  and more. Her brother was Richard Hough

Bernice G. Clifford

SARANAC LAKE Bernice G. Clifford, 63, of 239 Broadway, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 1994 at her home.

Born Dec. 18, 1930, she was the daughter of Frank A. and Lillian M. (Hugg) Hough.

On April 12, 1954 she married Cornelius Clifford.

A lifelong resident of Saranac Lake, she was a member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary. Site was also a member and past president of the Ladies of the Moose.

Survivors include her husband, of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Robin C. Clifford of Saranac, and Colleen M. Pierman of St John, Mich.; a son, Frank B. Clifford of Saranac Lake; two brothers, Kenneth E. Hough of Phoenix, Ariz, and Richard A. Hough of Malone; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are with the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no services at this time.
