Bjarne Furevik, a seaman from Bergen, Norway, was a patient at the Spear Cottage in 1944. His TB card misspells his name as "Buarne Furerik." Dr. John N. Hayes saw him on May 22, 1944.
When he returned home after the war, he wrote an undated postcard back to Emma Spear: "Dear Emma, I am home now and quite well. Hoping all of you are healthy and happy. Give Pat my best regards. How is [Foxi? or Toni?]. Best regards, BJARNE FUREVIK." The postcard is in the collection of Historic Saranac Lake.
