Boat site plans to be launched at VIS

SARANAC LAKE - The plans for the new, boat launching site on Lake Flower Ave. will be unveiled by William Petty at a meeting of the Village improvement Society.

The regional director of the Department of Environmental Conservation has arranged the use of Camp Intermission, a state conservation camp for the VIS annual membership meeting on Sept. 2.

Dale Huyck, regional supervisor of the DEC's Real Property service, will present details of the plan at that meeting.

The VIS has supported the proposed boat landing since the idea was first announced by Petty at last year's annual meeting. Mrs. Warriner Woodruff, society president, issues a cordial invitation to all those who are interested in hearing about this new facility which the DEC is creating in collaboration with Mayor Keough and the Village Board.

The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m., at the Conference Center in the main building. Members and guests then will move to the Conservation Education building for a bring-your-own-sandwich lunch, followed by the serving of cookies and beverages by Miss Alice Vosburgh and other VIS members.

Weather permitting, tours of the camp trails will be conducted in the afternoon by Dirk Benson and William Krischbaum, of the DEC. Anyone wishing transportation to the meeting is asked to sign up at the desk of the Saranac Lake Free Library.

Mrs. Woodruff has reported an encouraging response to the VIS's annual appeal for funds, which is, being continued in the hope of reaching its goal of $4,000. Contributions may be mailed to Ms. Ruth O'Connell, P.O. Box 404, Saranac Lake, 12983
