...Gerard Miner was appointed permanent fire truck driver on the motion of Trustee Francis Gladd seconded by George Stearns. Gladd said he would accept the recommendation of the fire council to appoint Miner for a 90-day probationary period to become effective in June . Miner will replace John Brewster who resigned after many years in the department to go into business at the Gulf Service Station on River Street, formerly Howard Benham’s.

GULF SERVICE
John Brewster of the River Street Gulf Station says he can no longer accept cash for work that he does. He said he has so much fun with the checks he receives, he wants everyone to pay that way. He bounces them all the way to the bank and then stands in front of the door with a tennis racket.
