Caridad del Prado came to Saranac Lake in the early 1920s with a relative from Cuba, here curing for TB in a local cure cottage. Here she met Angel Alvarez. They married and moved to Tampa, Florida. They had three children in Tampa. The family moved to Cuba, but returned to Tampa after Castro came to power.

The relative Caridad del Prado accompanied is likely to have been Sara del Prado. She may have been one of Sara's aunts or a sister.
