Mrs. C. M. Smith, of Saranac Lake, has sold her cottage in that village and purchased the Phil King farm between Paul Smith's and Gabriels. The place will be known as "Pinehurst Inn."

Some time ago The Farmer referred to the fact that the original Phil. King farm of 125 acres near Gabriels had been sold to Mrs. Carrie M. Smith, of Saranac Lake, formerly of St. Regis Falls, who will spend $2,000 in repairs and improvements, will have cottages for tourists, and a store for tourists' supplies and curios. She has named the place Pine Haven. The King farm was originally 50 acres and was cleared by Phil King, who added to it and made it a productive property. In 1869 Mr. King purchased the Paul Smith farm of 205 acres where he spent the remainder of his life. J. Q. King, son of Phil King, later came to own his father's original farm property. The house was remodeled and modernized by J. Q. King in 1913 and is a handsome property. Part of the 18-foot kitchen is the original home which Phil King built in the wilderness.

Two Bequests of $100,000 Made to Institutions in Smith Will
In the will of Mrs. Carrie M. Smith, widow of the late Paul Smith, which was filed for probity in the Franklin county surrogate's court in Malone yesterday by the attorneys of her estate, Davies, Auerbach & Cornell of New York city, the General Hospital and the Trudeau Tuberculosis Sanatorium of Saranac Lake each were bequested $100,000. Half of the sum bequeathed to the former is to be used to provide free beds. The other half is to be used for the general purposes of the hospital.
Other bequests which were made in the will include: The Saranac Lake Day Nursery, $10,000; the New York Nursery and Child's hospital, $100,000; the New York Skin and Cancer hospital, $100,000. The bequests to these two institutions are made under the same conditions as the bequest to the Saranac Lake General hospital. A bequest of $10,000 is made to the Children's Aid Society of New York city.
The General hospital and the Trudeau Sanatorium of Saranac Lake will share equally in the residuary of the estate. The will also contains bequests in varying amounts in money and jewelry to Mrs. Smith's relatives and in friends as well as persons who have been in her employ.
Mrs. Smith who expired at Paul Springs, [sic] California, [in] February maintained her residence at Paul Smith's in the town of Brighton. Because of this the will was probated in this county.
