SARANAC LAKE - Clifford L. Daniels, 87, of 117 Lake Street, Saranac Lake, died Thursday, June 14, 2001 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Born Nov. 21, 1913 in Spring Creek, Pa., he was the son of Clarence and Leva (McCaslain) Daniel's.
Mr. Daniels had been a resident of Tupper Lake for 16 years prior to moving to Saranac Lake in 1964. He had been employed by the Draper Corp. as a sawyer for 29 years until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 847 in Tupper Lake and the Elks Lodge 1508 in Saranac Lake. He enjoyed craft making, especially wood cutouts. He was also as avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Daniels is survived by his wife, the former Clara Webb Walter; three sons: Henry Daniels of Columbia, S.C., LeRoy Daniels Of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Richard Walter of Malone; two daughters: Donna Duquette of Plattsburgh and Donna Lynn Wright of Cherry Hill, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Violet Goodreau of North Stratford, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased his first wife, Althea, on June 16, 1963, his father and mother, a brother, Harold Daniels, and two sisters: Thelma Dupont and Sylvia Bean. Visitation hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. on Monday, followed by an Elks service at 8:15 p.m.. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Neil, pastor, of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Tupper Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Saranac Lake Rescue Squad or Saranac Lake Adult Center in care of the funeral home.
