Man Dies Of Infection After Auto Accident
Cornelius J. Metcalfe, 41, of Saranac Lake died Sunday at the Saranac Lake General hospital from an infection which set in after he was injured in an automobile accident last Monday night.
Mr. Metcalfe was riding with Leon Harvey, when the car went out of control on the Lake Placid road near the Will Rogers hospital knocking over several guard rails and over turning.
Mr. Metcalfe was rushed to the hospital where he was found to be suffering from deep lacerations of the right leg and minor cuts. Mr. Harvey, driver of the car, sustained minor injuries.
The deceased was born in Buffalo. He went to Saranac Lake over 30 years ago where he worked as an auto mechanic.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Metcalfe; a daughter, Miss Dorothy Metcalfe; his mother, Mrs. John Murphy, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Homburger.
