Dale Huyck was regional supervisor of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's Real Property service.
In 1980, he was Director of acquisitions for the department, and was involved with negotiations for the state's planned acquisition of the Swenson Camp. He retired in 1996, having served for 33 years. During his tenure he saw more than a quarter of a million acres added to the Forest Preserve.
