Dorothy Ann Knapp was born in Saranac Lake on August 14, 1914, the daughter of Frank and Margaret Knapp. She was a graduate of the Saranac Lake High School Class of 1933. She died at the age of 85 on October 8, 1999.

SARANAC LAKE - Dorothy Ann Knapp, 85, a former resident of Saranac Lake, died Friday Oct. 8, 1999 at the St Regis Nursing Home in Massena.

Born Aug. 14, 1914 in Saranac Lake, she was the daughter of Frank J. and Margaret C. Knapp. She graduated from Saranac Lake High School in the Class of 1933. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church at that time. She had been a governess in the Central Park area of New York City. During WWII, she had been a switchboard operator at the Rome Sentinel.

Survivors include, a brother, Jack Knapp of Aurora Colo.; five nieces and two nephews.

She was predeceased by, a sister, Mae Collins and two brothers, Joseph C. and Donald E. Knapp.

An interment service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake. Rev. Charles Monds will officiate.
