Ducey and Backus was a lumber company in the late-1800s.  The partners were Patrick A. Ducey and John Backus.

DUCEY & BACKUS are getting in a stock of about 15,000,000 feet of logs at their mill at Brandon (Paul Smith's Station), and four-fifths of the whole is pine! Their mill is probably the best ever erected in the State, and one of the best lumbermen that ever lived—JOHN BACKUS—is its manager. The snow in the woods in that vicinity, even at this season, is four feet deep.
