Apparently the son of Edmund S. Horton, Edmund Horton operated Horton's Greenhouse at 108 River Street (7 South Street) and flower shop at 84 Main Street (later 76 Main Street). He was a noted skater and bobsledder, earning a silver medal in the 1932 Winter Olympics in the four man bobsled with the Saranac Lake Red Devils. After his death, the Edmund Horton Memorial Trophy was created for the local three-mile speed skating event.

Edmund C. Horton is buried with Mildred H. Murch Horton, 1893-1936 in Pine Ridge Cemetery; her burial record is marked "wife of Edmund C." As she died 8 years before Edmund C. Horton, he may have been remarried to Catherine Griffith.
