Edmund R. Duprey, 56, assistant superintendent for business in East Greenbush School District, died suddenly Monday September 10.  He was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital in Albany of a heart attack.

Mr. Duprey first came to the school district 20 years ago when he worked as district clerk.  As assistant superintendent for business, he was responsible for the financial affairs of the district including the annual budget.

A graduate of Albany State, now SUNYA, where he received a Bachelor's of Science degree, Mr. Duprey went on to earn a Master's degree in Administration from Syracuse University.  His science teaching career included service at Catskill High School, Morrisville Agricultural and Technical College, and Onondaga Central Schools.

Mr. Duprey was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Rensselaer Lodge of Elks, Melvin Roads American Legion Post in Clinton Heights, and the East Greenbush VFW.

In addition to serving as the School District Clerk, Mr. Duprey was a member of the Association of School Business Officials and had been listed since 1979 in the book, "Who's Who in the East."

He was a former commissioner of the Schodack Valley Fire Department and a former member of the East Greenbush-Nassau Kiwanis Club.  For two years he served as president of the East Greenbush Babe Ruth League.

Mr. Duprey is survived by his wife, Marjorie Alguire Duprey, a teacher at Goff School in East Greenbush; two sons: Kurt A. and Eric J. Duprey, both of Castleton; and a sister Diane Beznar of Clay, NY.
