Dr. Edward F. "Ned" Mulflur was a dentist. His family lived in the Worthen Cottage in Glenwood Estates. He was a son of Mrs. Mary Mulflur of 54 Bloomingdale Avenue.
He was a World War II veteran.
Former Saranac Lake dentist, Dr. Edward F. Mulflur, dies
SARANAC LAKE - Dr. Edward F. Mulflur, 76, a prominent local dentist for many years in Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, July 2, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.
He was a dentist in private practice in Saranac Lake for 42 years and later worked as a dentist for the Ray Brook drug rehabilitation center and at the Dannemora state prison for seven years.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a captain in the United States Army.
Dr. Mulflur was a graduate of Notre Dame University and Western Reserve Dental School.
He was born June 3, 1910, in
Saranac Lake, the son of William and Mary (Morgan) Mulflur.
He was married in June, 1942, to Ruth Dunnigan. She died Aug. 18, 1970.
Dr. Mulflur was a member of the Saranac Lake Elks Club 1508, Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council 599, Saranac Lake Rotary and the New York State Dental Association.
Survivors include a son, Edward F. Mulflur, Jr., of Los Angeles, Calif.; three daughters, Joan M. Drum of Liverpool, Mrs. Earl (Peggy) Kinville of Clay and Mrs. Kenneth (Kathleen) Woods of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Walter Mulflur of Cape Coral, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Keough and Son Funeral Home and include a Bible vigil with the Knights of Columbus at 7:30.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard's Church with Father John Pendergast officiating.
Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Pine Ridge.
