SARANAC LAKE—Funeral services for Edward M. Pendergast of Saranac Lake, were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church with his son, Msgr. John Pendergast of Ogdensburg officiating Burial was in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
The Keough and Sons Funeral Home in Saranac Lake was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pendergast died Thursday (Jan. 31, 1980) at his home on 6 Maryland Ave., after a long illness.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary C. Newell; three sons, Msgr. John F. Pendergast, Ogdensburg William J., West Terre Haute, Ind., James M., Saranac Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Markey, Rochester; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Green, Syracuse, Mrs. Catherine Brush, Oneonta, Mrs. Virginia Wyland and Mrs. Cornelia Yando, both of Clinton; 13 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his first wife Kathleen; a son, Edward M. Jr., a. brother, Charles and a sister, Florence. He was born in Syracuse, son of Nicholas and Cornelia Mather Pendergast. He had been a resident of Saranac Lake since 1923. He was employed as an inspector for the Consolidated Board of Health. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse and St. Lawrence University in 1923.
He was a member of BPOE 1508 Elks, and the Saranac Lake Rotary Club.
Memorials contributions may be made to the Carmelite Monastery in Saranac Lake.
