Descendants of escaped slave John Thomas. The family lived at 180 Broadway, at 150 1/2 Main Street in the early 1940s, and at 2 Sumner Place in 1942

The 1910 U.S. Census, lists her family — parents, Peter (Mohawk Indian) and Louisa, and sisters, Julia, 3, and Margaret, four months — and their race as Indian. They lived in Bombay, New York.

SARANAC LAKE RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. Elizabeth Morehouse, of 150 1/2 Main st., Saranac Lake, died at 1:55 p.m, yesterday at the Saranac Lake General Hospital following a long illness.

Her body will repose at Fortune's Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Rev. Ernest B. Mounsey will officiate. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Bloomingdale.

Mrs. Morehouse was born on December 27, 1904 in Hogansburg.

She is survived by her husband, Marshall; three sons, Marshall Jr., of Saranac Lake; Victor, serving with the U.S. Air Force in. Panama; Oscar, of Baltimore, Md.; also five daughters, Joan, Ann and Margaret, of Saranac Lake; Mrs. Mary Lee, of Baltimore, Md., and Virginia, of Rome.
