Mrs. Elizabeth Duprey Dies in Saranac Lake

Funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Mary Duprey, pioneer resident of Saranac Lake, was held Tuesday morning at her home in Ray Brook. A solemn requiem mass was offered at nine a. m. by Very Rev. Dean Clarence Kitts in St. Bernard's church. Burial was in Pine Ridge cemetery. Mrs. Duprey died Saturday after an illness of two weeks.

She was born in Elizabethtown, March 18, 1866, daughter of Julius and Emily Russett. She received her education in the schools of Elizabethtown and on August 5, 1882, she was married to Syriac Duprey in Mineville. The couple lived in Mineville until 1890 when they moved to Saranac Lake.

Thirteen children were born to the couple all of whom survive. They are five daughters, Miss Jane Duprey and Mrs. John Keough of Saranac Lake; Mrs. William Hall and Mrs E. J. Otis and Mrs John Rugg of Niagara Falls; eight sons Syriac Jr., Oliver, Leo, Philip, Raymond, Clarence, Lawrence and Edmund of Saranac Lake.

Other survivors are two brothers, Peter Russett of Vergennes, Vt., and Clifford of Bradentown, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Philip Commo of Watervliet, Mrs. Joseph Dumarr of Witherbee and Miss Jennie Russett of Vergennes, Vt. Her eight sons were bearers.
