Prior to her marriage, Elizabeth Tully Mirick TenEyck was employed as a secretary for the Trotty Veck Messengers, booklets of wise and witty sayings published in Saranac Lake from 1916 to the 1950s. She also taught piano to local youngsters until 1997.

SARANAC LAKE - Elizabeth Tully Mirick TenEyck, 99, of 139 Pine Street, Saranac Lake died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born Dec. 31, 1897 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of George Jarvis and Esther (Tully) Mirick. She married Olin A. TenEyck on June 16, 1928. Prior to her marriage she was employed as a secretary for the Trotty Veck Messengers, booklets of wise and witty sayings, published in Saranac Lake from 1916 to the 1950s. She also taught piano to local youngsters until 1997, and studied under Caroline Simpson.
She enjoyed teaching swimming to local youngsters, gardening, needle work, and traveling. She was recently awarded the "Music in the Mountains" Saranac Lake Winter Carnival award.
She was predeceased by her husband on Oct. 28,1992; four sisters Isabel Cullen, Harriet Finnegan, Esther Mirick, Emily St. Clair Sr.; and a brother Jarvis Mirick. Survivors include her son Olin Peter TenEyck of Liverpool; one daughter Ann Mirick TenEyck of Croton-on-Hudson; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A bible vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard's Church with Father Timothy Soucy and Father Mark Reily co-celebrating. Interment will be in St. Bernard's cemetery in May.
Friends wishing to remember Mrs. TenEyck may make contributions in her name to St. Bernard's School in care of the funeral home.
