Malone Farmer, December 29, 1909

Mrs. Ellen Galloway, wife of John A. Galloway, who until three years ago conducted a livery at Saranac Lake, was found dead at her home in New York city a few days ago, with an empty carbolic acid bottle beside her. When her husband came home from his real estate office he found the doors locked and discovered her body in a bedroom when he had forced an entrance to the house. Her suicide is supposed to have been the result of brooding over the health of her son about seven years old, who has suffered from a spinal trouble nearly all his life. The child's trouble is thought to have originated with a fall from a baby carriage at Saranac Lake about six years ago. Mrs. Galloway was 33 years of age.
