Elmer J. Brown was a fuel driver  for Boyce & Roberson; and later, he operated his own fuel business. He lived at 12 Balsam Street.

Elmer J. Brown

SARANAC LAKE - Elmer J. Brown, 72, of the Lake Flower Apartments, died early Monday morning at Saranac Lake General Hospital. He had lived in Saranac Lake since 1918. Mr. Brown operated an oil distributorship from his home on Balsam Street for many years. He was the son of Silas and Elizabeth Whitcher Brown.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Surviving are: his wife, Kathryn Davenport Brown; four sons, Robert of Plattsburgh, James of Cazenovia, Joseph of Lincoln, Neb., and William of Colwyn, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Ann-Marie Ware of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, Edson of Florida; a sister, Mrs. Nan Nickles of Rochester; and 15 grandchildren. Friends may call this evening from 7 to 9 o'clock at the Keough and Son Memorial Chapels. A private family prayer service will be conducted by the Rev. Peter Ward and the Rev. Philip Zebley on Wednesday at the chapel. Cremation will follow with interment in the family plot in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Friends wishing to remember Mr. Brown may contribute to the Saranac Lake Voluntary Health Association.

Cpl. Robert Brown Is At Cherry Point

Marine Cpl. Robert D. Brown. 22, husband of the former Emily M. Johnson, Racquette River drive, Tupper Lake, was recently promoted to his present rank here at this Marine Corps Air Station.

Corporal Brown is serving as a "military policeman" attached to Headquarters Squadron, Cherry Point, N.C.

A 1948 graduate of the Saranac Lake High School, Corporal Brown entered the Marine Corps in January, 1952, and received his recruit training at Parris Island, SC. The couple have a baby son, Roger Allen, six-months-old. The Corporal is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer J. Brown, 12 Balsam street, Saranac Lake.

Mr. and Mrs. James A. Brown and children, Jimmy, Julie and Stephen, are visiting Mr. Brown's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Brown, 12 Balsam St. for 2 weeks. They spent the past two years in France where Mr. Brown has been teaching at Orly Air Force Base School. In August the family will go to Munich, Germany, where he will have a similar post with the government school there.
