Word has been received of the death of the Rev. Ernest B. Mounsey on Tuesday morning in Kasson, Minn. Mr. Mounsey will be remembered here as the beloved rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church for many years. He came to the village in 1939 and served at St. Luke's until his retirement in 1956.

A quiet man of gentle disposition, he was actively interested in the village and its affairs. He was a member of the fire department and served as its chaplain for many years. A lover of the outdoors, who enjoyed both hunting and fishing, he was an active member of the Fish and Game Club, regularly attended their meetings and is warmly remembered by many of the older members.

Mr. Mounsey was born in England on April 1, 1880 and was ordained in 1915. He and Mrs. Mounsey were married in 1916 and from 1915 to 1917 he was in charge of Indian missions at Crow Creek, S.D. While there he also served as honorary canon of Calvary Cathedral in Sioux Falls. Mr. Mounsey served as rector of St. Marks Church in Lake City, Minn. from 1917 to 1920 and from 1920 to 1939 was rector of Christ Church in Waterloo, Iowa, which he left to come east and to Saranac Lake. From 1926 to 1935 he also served as rural dean of the Dubuque Diocese and while here was rural dean of the Ogdensburg Diocese.

After retirement he went back to Minnesota where he and Mrs. Mounsey have made their home since. He is survived by his wife, Marie; his son Capt. William Mounsey, U.S. Army, and four grandchildren. The time and place of the funeral has not been received.
