Francis Victor (Vic) Saumier (52) died yesterday noon at the Saranac Lake General Hospital. He was born Nov. 12, 1916 in Lancaster, Ontario, the son of Medric and Gertrude Sylveste Saumier. The family came to Saranac Lake in 1928.

Mr. Saumier is survived by his wife, Margaret Shackett, whom he married in Saranac Lake on June 1, 1946; four daughters, Vicki Ann, Mary Alta. Susan Margaret and Joan Elizabeth; three brothers, Percy and Lawrence of Saranac Lake; and Sylvester of Chateaugay; three sisters, Mrs. Dora Thornton of Detroit, Mrs. Claire Skeels and Mrs. Alta Betters of Saranac Lake.

He served in the army in World War II with the 496th Engineer Depot Co. Mr. Saumier was a letter carrier for the local Post Office. Vic was an ardent sportsman who spent many hours at his camp on Long Pond, hunting and fishing. The community thought so much of him that, while he was in the hospital, his friends, on off hours, painted his house. Mr. Saumier was a member of the American Legion and the Fish and Game Club.

Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home where a Rosary will be said this evening at 8 p. m.

A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a. m. at the Methodist Church on Saturday. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
