S.L AGENCIES HAVE MERGED
Effective Oct. 26, the Floyd H. Green Agency merged with the Curtis S. Hayes Agency and will operate at 25 Broadway.
Mr. Greene began his insurance career in September 1915 as a clerk in an insurance office. In 1919 he was licensed by some 10 companies including Niagara Fire Insurance Co. (continental group of companies) as a sub-agent, later as an officer in a corporation.
In 1952 Mr. Greene opened his own office on Broadway with wife, Mrs. Lena W. Greene, both representing the Travelers, the United States Fire Insurance Co. and others.
Mr. Greene will still represent the Travelers as a sub-agent for S. Curtis Hayes, Inc.
In his some 50 years of service Mr. Greene has seen many changes in insurance coverages including automobile, liability and property, mercantile and dwelling insurance.

SARANAC LAKE - Floyd H. Greene, 86, of 31 Lake St. died Monday afternoon at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.
Born May 12, 1891. he was the son of Ira H and Mary Otis Greene. His wife, the former Lena Walrath, died in 1973.
He graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1910. He worked for the Clinton J. Ayres Agency from 1916 to 1930, at which time he became president, serving until 1952. At that time he founded the Floyd H. Greene Agency — Insurance and Real Estate, which he and Mrs. Greene operated until 1969 when he sold it to S. Curtis Hayes Inc.
He was president of the former Adirondack Association of Local Agents. He was a member and past grand master of the Oddfellows, a member of the Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club since 1920, and a member of the Whiteface Mountain Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons since 1931. He was also a director of the Saranac Lake Federal Savings and Loan for over 50 years and a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a former trustee and elder.
He is survived by a nephew, Everett Ives of Salisbury, N.Y.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Fortune Funeral Home with the Rev. Philip Zebley, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment is to be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in May.
