SARANAC LAKE - Francis G. Ratelle, 76, formerly of 3-5 Riverside Drive in Saranac Lake, died Friday, May 31, 1996 at the Mercy Healthcare Center in Tupper Lake where he had been a resident since February.

Born Oct. 8, 1919 in Brooklyn, he was the son of Chester and Margaret (Dennison) Ratelle.

Mr. Ratelle was employed as a baker for 22 years, starting at the Carnation Bakery in Saranac Lake where he was employed for more than eight years. He later moved to Rochester and worked as a baker for the National Biscuit Co. for 13 years until his retirement. He returned to Saranac Lake in 1980. Mr. Ratelle was a veteran of the Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, AARP, and was an honorary citizen of Boystown.

Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Martelle and Grace St. John, both of Saranac Lake; three brothers, Chester, Theodore and Louis, all of Saranac Lake; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Clarence "Happy" Ratelle.

Calling hours will he held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home immediately following calling hours- Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad in care of the funeral home.
