Fred Gorrow was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of Alfred and Charlotte (Lamarche) Gorrow.

SARANAC LAKE — Fred Gorrow, 85, of Lake Colby Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1992, at Adirondack Medical Center, Born in Ogdensburg on Sept. 28, 1906, he was the son of Alfred and Charlotte (Lamarche) Gorrow. He married Catherine M. Amo on July 20, 1929 in Bloomingdale. Mr. Gorrow had been a resident of Saranac Lake since 1923, coming from Ogdensburg. He owned and operated his own business in Saranac Lake, the Gorrow Service Station on Church Street Extension, for many years until his retirement

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was also a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife; one son, Arthur of Centerville, Tenn.; three daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Mary) Amell of Green, Mrs. Richard (Lillian) Burman of Saranac Lake, and Mrs, Russell (Irene) Newell of Liverpool; one brother, Albert, of Florida; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are with the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Bernard's Church at 11:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14. Interment will take place in St. Bernard's Cemetery in May.

Memorial donations may be made to the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department in care of Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
