George E. Paye

SARANAC LAKE — George E. Paye, Jr., 65, of 23 Payeville Road, died Saturday, June 16, 1990.

He was born here July 26, 1924, the son of George E. and Maude (Rock) Paye.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He married the former Margaret Phillips March 6, 1944.

He was a lifelong resident of the, village, operating Paye's Sand and Gravel many years ago, later working as a truck salesman for Lakeside Garage, owning and operating Adirondack Riverside Garage and Working as general manager of Payehaulers Trucking.

He served one term as village trustee and served as deputy mayor of Saranac Lake. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Club.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Mrs. Rupert (Linda) Miller of Orange City, Fla. and Mrs. John (Barbara) Kent of Saranac Lake; three sons, George III, William and Steven, all of Saranac Lake; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by a brother, Orville of Saranac Lake and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held 2 -4 and 7 - 9 p.m. today at the Fortune Funeral Home here. The funeral service will be said at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Church here with the Rev. Frederick Dennis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to High Peaks Hospice or the Saranac Lake Rescue Squad in care of the funeral home.
