SARANAC LAKE — George H. Landry, 67, died Friday, June 14, 1991 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Malone on July, 24, 1923, he was the son of Joseph and Deborah (Cook) Landry. He was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake. A Veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in Algeria, Tunisia, Sicily, Italy, southern France and the Rhineland, and was wounded by machine gun fire. He was awarded the Purple Heart, a Good Conduct Medal, and the European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal.
He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of ForeignWars, Disabled American Veterans, and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Linda ) Cushman of Saranac Lake; a brother, Lloyd of Syracuse; a half-brother, Sidney Sheffield of Rome; two sisters, Mrs, Jay (Betty) Nicklaw of Bristol, Vt, and Mrs. Mabel Ross of Castleton-on-the-Hudson; six grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.
A sister, Barbara Cyr, died earlier.
Calling hours, veterans services and a Bible vigil were held Sunday at the Keough and Son Funeral Home. Funeral services were scheduled for this morning at 9:30 at the funeral home, the Rev. Douglas Comstock officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Saranac Lake Rescue Squad in care of the funeral home.
