Mrs. Gerda Eklund Dies Early Tuesday At Home at Coreys

Mrs. Gerda Christina Eklund, 80, died during the early morning hours Tuesday at Indian Spring Camp at Coreys, which she had operated for many years.

Mrs. Eklund was found dead in bed by her grandson, Robert Bernard of Seaford, L.I., when he went to awaken her. The body was removed to the Richer Funeral Home here, and was shipped to the William Mulvey Funeral Home at 211 Mansion st., Poughkeepsie, where the funeral took place at 2 p. m. today. Interment was in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

She was born in Sonoland, Sweden, Dec. 24, 1884, and came to this country as a girl. She worked as a cateress in New York city, and began coming to Coreys for summer stays 57 years ago, making her summer home there during the part 45 years and spending the winters in Long Island or California.

Her husband, Karl John Eklund, died some years ago. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Madeline Bernard of Seaford, L. I.; one son, Carl Eklund of Covina, Calif., and two grandchildren.
