Glenn David Odone was a prominent surveyor in Saranac Lake. His obituary appeared in the Enterprise on May 24, 2003. He is buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

SARANAC LAKE - Glenn D. Odone, P.L.S., 59, of Mt. Pisgah Road, Saranac Lake, passed away on April 30, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center. His beloved wife, children, close family members and clergy were at his side.

Born in Oneottta on, July 25, 1943, Glenn David Odone was the son of Harold and Flora (Lee) Odone. Glenn and his wife, Cherie Dimorier Odone, who survives him, were both graduates of the Sidney Central School in Sidney, NY in the 1960s.

Mr. Odone participated in many sports in his lifetime, including fishing, hunting, golfing, recreational and circuit snowmobile racing and boating. He was also a very avid Nascar Race fan and attended several race events annually. Glenn admired and owned several fine, fast vehicles in his lifetime, including many models of the 1955, 1956, and 1957 classic Chevys.

Glenn David Odone was a 1960s graduate of the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and forestry, Syracuse University - (a.k.a. The New York State Ranger School, in Wanakena). After graduation, Mr. Odone was employed by the Heath Corporation of Virginia for many years as an environmental investigator of natural gas leaks in the mid and south eastern states. Glenn later accepted a position with the State of New York, forking in the surveying department at the Department of Environmental Conservation in Canton, Ray Brook and Albany.

In three decades, Mr. Odone built a business that was unparalleled in its professionalism and reputation, according to several of his professional colleagues. The Glenn D. Odone Land Surveyors business, located at 27 Bloomingdale Avenue, Saranac Lake, was owned and operated by him until his untimely death in April.

Glenn was a member and past President of the Northern Division of the New York State Association of Professional Land Surveyors. He and his 1980s partner and friend, David Magurk, PE, engineered and surveyed the majority of the sports venue sites for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.

Mr. Odone was a member of the Elks Club here and was also a member and only three-term President of the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Glenn was serving on the board for the Town of St. Armand, as an elected, two term councilman at the time of his death. He served on many civic boards in his lifetime, including many Saranac Lake village boards.

He is survived by his wife, Cherie Dimorier Odone; his children: Theresia Golluscio and her husband Edward of Vestal, Glenn Odone Jr, and his wife Mary Ellen of Southborough, Mass., Caroline Suzanne of Broad Brook, Conn., and her fiancé, Douglas Oesch of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three step-sons; Ronald and Timothy Smith of the Saranac Lake area and Peter Smith and his wife Sue of Eastern Florida; two brothers and sister-in-laws; Donald and Laura Odone, of Enumclaw, Wash, and Roger and Betty Odone of Northborough, Mass.; three sister and brother in-laws; Sandy and Bill DeCooker of Sidney Center. Sue and George Titus of Bloomfield, Conn., Nanette, and Earl Polster of Sidney and brother-in-law Skip Dimorier and Wife Chantra of Goldsboro, N.C.; several beloved grandsons and granddaughters; 10 first cousins; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3, 2003 and the Retired Pastor, and friend, the Rev. Ira Stanley and his son, the Rev. Michael Stanley of the North Country Christian Center, Saranac Lake, delivered a concelebrating message with a very touching and personal note of Glenn's faith in Christ as his Lord and Savior. Pastor Mike's wife, Kim Stanley, hushed the full capacity service with her beautiful melodic voice, accompanied by the keyboard. Interment followed at the historic Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake. Family and friends gathered afterwards at the Best Western in Saranac Lake for shared memories and desserts.
