GUNNISON HOME OPEN TO PUBLIC

It's open house tomorrow and Sunday for the new and modern home on Rockland avenue, in Saranac Lake. Constructed by Gunnison Homes, a subsidiary of the United States Steel Corp; the public is invited to inspect this newest development in living combined with economy and convenience from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 o'clock, both afternoons and evenings.

The just-completed Catalina type is of convenient one-story construction and the spacious interior comprises a living room, dining alcove, three bedrooms, a large kitchen and a laundry.

Construction of the Gunnison Homes is the result of years of research and they are being built here by Frederick K. Tousley, of the Milo B. Miller Estate, Inc., of Saranac Lake.

The houses are made from prefabricated sections, each precision-built to just the right size and shape for a home that is snug, possessing great strength without stress or strain.

The entire home is "wrapped" in a thick blanket of Rockwool insulation between the outer and inner walls so that even room temperatures are easily maintained. Each house is built on a durable insulated foundation that will not rot or bulge. This is covered with asphalt tile.

Keeping house and keeping things clean is unbelievably easy, for interior wall panels are finished with soft tones which need but a going over with a damp cloth occasionally to have them clean and sparkling. The panels are perfectly grained and "mellow" with age.

These same wood panels form a very satisfactory sound-subduing effect, too; noises are not easily heard from other rooms and this quietening effect contributes much towards restful relaxation.

Additional features are large picture windows in the living room, a built-in American Steel kitchen, and streamlined construction which eliminates many "dust-catching" and unnecessary corners found in less modern homes.

The most convenient way to reach the location is to drive out Kiwassa road and turn left at Rockland ave.
