SARANAC LAKE -. Harold H. Montgomery, 79, of Vermontville, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 1995 at the Adirondack Medical Center of Saranac Lake.

Born May 13, 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of Harry H. and Kathleen (Thomas) Montgomery.

He had been a resident of the area for the past 71 years and was a graduate of Bloomingdale High School. He attended Clark University in Worcester, Mass. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army. Upon his return from the war he took over operation of Montgomery's store in Vermontville, which his father started and operated until his retirement.

He was town of Franklin town clerk from 1950 to 1954 and was town supervisor from 1964 to 1980. He married Jeanne Georgin in Belgium in 1945.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jeanne Foley and Joannie Keith, both of Vermontville; two granddaughters, Heidi Montgomery and Amy Keith of Vermontville; two sisters, Loeita Hall of Hudson, Fla., and Ella Barton of Wells; a brother, Henry Montgomery; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Uihlein Mercy Center in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
