Harold J. Morford, Sr., was a World War II veteran who served in the United States Navy. He was the son of John and Lena (Collins) Morford
He graduated from the Ranger School at Wannakena in 1948, and worked for the state Department of Environmental Conservation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1948 to 1953. He was later employed as a corrections officer at Dannemora Correctional Facility, retiring after 22 years of service in 1979.
