SARANAC LAKE - Harold Patnode, 73, of Onchiota, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake

Born on July 29, 1927, in Onchiota, he was a son of Oliver and Dora (LaMora) Patnode.

Mr. Patnode was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.  He worked for Triangle Lumber Co. from 1947-1982 and for the New York State Department of EnvironmentalConservation as a sawyer from 1982 until his retirement in 1994. He was an avid wood worker and he enjoyed hunting.

Survivors include two sisters, Geneva Goldner of Hammond, Indiana arid Mildred Patnode, of Onchiota, with whom he made his home, five brothers, Walton Patnode, of Rainbow Lake, Francis Patnode, of Tavares, Fla., Robert Patnode, of Lake Clear, and Roland and Raymond Patnode, both of Saranac Lake and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17 at the Fortune Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Bible vigil will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale, with Rev. Francis Flynn officiating. Cremation will follow with interment in St. Paul's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or High Peaks Hospice in care of the funeral home.
