SARANAC LAKE — Hazel Monica of 6 Mills Avenue died yesterday afternoon at Saranac Lake General Hospital.

She was born on Nov. 15, 1895 in Waddington, the daughter of John and Ella Hitchman Joyce. Her husband, Lewis, died in 1963.

She is survived by a son, Donald of Buffalo, a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Joyce Meagher of Saranac Lake, 6 grandchildren, a brother, Darrel Joyce on Long Island; 2 sisters, Mrs. Maude Burns and Mrs. Myrtle Dunlop of Waddington; and several nieces and nephews.

A son, Edwin, died in 1961. Mrs. Monica had been a resident of Saranac Lake for 50 years, and a nurse at the General Hospital for 25 years before her retirement.

She was a member of Kiwassa Rebekah lodge 32, of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a foster grandparent at Sunmount, and had been a volunteer for the Red-Cross— and the Blood Bank.

Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home today from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. There will be a VFW service tonight at 7:30, followed by a Rebekah service at 8.

The Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Philip Zebley, pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Pine Ridge Cemetery.
